Round-up for March 16th, 2012
The biggest news in social media this week is the rumour that CNN is in talks to buy Mashable, the social news website Pete Cashmere started from his bedroom in 2005, which now has over 20 million unique users per month. The sale price? a hefty $200 million (£120 million).
While I think it’s great that a small startup company is very successful, my concern is that another independent company is being gobbled up by an industry giant. I hope the integrity and open-ness of Mashable remain if this sale goes through.
