How Guest Blogging Can Build Your Email List (Doable 18)

Doable 18

You’ll notice this post about guest blogging isn’t all written by me.

That’s because this is something new and exciting for me… I’m taking part in my first “blog tour”.

What’s that you ask?

It’s a really cool way to get involved with others in your online community and share something valuable to their blogs, usually when you’re launching a new product to help spread the word more quickly using the power of collaboration.

I’ve been a guest on Stacey’s show talking about using YouTube for video marketing, and now I’m happy to share one of the chapters of her new eBook here on my blog. (In fact, next month I’ll be using Stacey’s tips, as well as Nathalie Lussier’s list-building challenge, to make a concentrated effort on growing my email list. I hope you’ll join me, so stay tuned for more info.)

I hope you enjoy this guest post (see that? right on topic!) and if you want a chance to win some awesome prizes, check out the contest at the bottom of the post (including my own Website in a Week online course valued at $195).

Ready? Let’s welcome Stacey and learn more about guest blogging…

How Guest Blogging can Build Your List – Doable 18

Guest blogging is a great way to gain extra exposure, especially if you can submit blog posts to sites that have a lot of traffic. Again, look for blogs that are relevant to your niche and what you teach about. Some sites have a page on their website dedicated to guest blogging, so you will be able to see what they are looking for and the procedure to go through to submit a blog post.  If they don’t have anything on the site you can simply contact them through the contact form or through social media. It is always nice to start building a relationship with the blog owner before you reach out to them – comment on their posts, share their content on social media, retweet some of their posts.  That way when you approach them they will have an idea of who you are.

Some people have strict guidelines about what you can link to from your post on their site. You may be able to link to a landing page or it might just be back to your blog, where you can invite them to opt in.  Even though the end game is building your list, getting exposure is also very important – so even if you can’t link to your opt in page, it is still worth guest blogging.

It is the same concept if you are going to be on people’s podcast shows or being interviewed for radio. Link back to a landing page if possible but, if not, simply send them to your blog.

Have you ever guest blogged or hosted a guest blogger?  I would love to hear about your experience below.
